Ragaireacht (Ra-Gerra):
An Irish Gaelic word for late-night wandering, or sitting up talking long into the early hours.

We are dream chasers.
We are curious and questioning.
We are learned but foolish.
We are Vini Ragerra.

There’s no romantic story to tell of our forebearers being stewards of the earth; we are not descendants of generational winemakers, and we never inherited a centimetre of land once linked to Italian aristocracy or any great families of the past.

Our legacy was born out of the spirit to create something from doing what you love. We wanted to craft something unique but familiar and impactful without pretension. Our intersecting passions for regenerative farming and winemaking led us to find this place in the Barbera boasting village of Agliano Terme where we gave shape and texture to our dream.

We bought an old farmhouse with ugly red shutters; an old vineyard and fruit orchard were included in the scheme. It also came with a donkey barn, which added to the romance.

We dug in and gave our homestead the care it deserved. “Cides” of any kind (pest, herb, fungi, etc) are forbidden on the land; we planted hundreds of trees, flowers, herbs, and cover crops, and we let the grass rewild as we brought life back to this earth.

We painted the ugly red shutters green and made a rusty old house a home.

What doesn’t tie us to the past allows us to be bold and audacious with taking risks in the vineyard. Our land is treated like a garden where everything is done by hand, foregoing the use of heavy machinery and industrialised interference.

We strongly support promiscuous viticulture and steer clear of the monoculture-culture. We are experimenting with drought-resistant and mildew-resistant varietals for the maximum environmental impact and the security of our future.

Our wines are natural, whole-cluster, and chunky, and they are a reflection of our land, our ecosystem, and our spirit.

This is how Vini Ragerra became our reality.

If you like what we do, then come pay us a visit; we will be happy to share our world with yours. Maybe by then we will have a donkey.
